Testimony of a Repentant Nation
The election of Donald Trump for President last November was testimony to a nation on the road of repentance. After decades of government corruption fueled by growing sensuality, immorality, and murder from it and its citizens, many people began to wake up to the damage we were doing to ourselves and our country. What the Trump administration is doing so far is not the work of a dictator, but is exactly what the majority of our citizens mandated him to do in the landslide election. All of those dissenting Christians who are characterizing him as the antichrist, need to realize that they are labeling probably 70% of our population as the same. (Not to mention they completely misunderstand who/what the “antichrist” is! See note at bottom and other articles). That’s because when we look at Trump, it’s like looking in a mirror and seeing our own collective self, reflecting back at us. And this author believes that to be a good thing. Most of us have reflected on the bizarre culture we have created lately, and determined that it has no basis in objective reality. We have changed direction and have elected a leader who will lead that change.
We are at a major crossroads. We will either remain humble in our quest for right and truly make America great again in the eyes of God (the only eyes who really matter); or we will become arrogant in our own eyes and lose it all in a big way just as Babylon the Great does in the book of Revelation just prior to the establishment of Jesus’ righteous government on the planet. If President Trump and we, or his successor, start abusing our neighbors for the sake of power, then God will bring the destruction He has promised in Revelation 17 and 18. But the good news right now is we stand beside a President who is very much like the King Nebuchadnezzar of ancient Babylon in the book of Daniel, chapter 4.
The chapter begins with an arrogant king who glories in his own majesty and the majesty of his kingdom. Apparently he gives no credit to God. But after seven years of having lost all his power, he learned an important lesson. Here are his words:
Daniel 4:34-37
But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation. 35 “All the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, but He does according to His will in the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to Him, ‘What have You done?’ 36 At that time my reason returned to me. And my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom, and my counselors and my nobles began seeking me out; so I was reestablished in my sovereignty, and surpassing greatness was added to me. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.
I don’t want to make a huge deal out of it, but in some ways it could be said that President Trump lost his power for around 7 years, as well. He tried “draining the swamp” in his first term, but the swamp was too powerful for him back then and he wasn’t quite ready to face down the onslaught of corruption against him. After his anti-globalist speech at the United Nations the forces of evil were brought to bear on him for the rest of his term, and then he “lost” the next election cycle in 2020. But now he’s back after almost being killed by an assassin’s bullet. Trump is still very confident and bold, but in this author’s view he has smoothed out a little…he has a humility he gained after that bullet just missed his brain by one quick tip of the head, and ended up grazing his ear instead. And the battles he has fought in the last 4+ years have given him a resolve and confidence that is tempered by humility and thankfulness.
Will President Trump keep that humility alongside his wisdom and confidence? Will we do likewise? So far so good I’d say. He’s doing a great job working on what he promised us he would do. No, he’s not Jesus the Christ…that is obvious, and he doesn’t claim to be. He will not be ushering in the Kingdom of God on the earth…no one in this age will be doing so. Frankly, our leaders don’t have the slightest idea of how to govern the way Jesus will. He will teach us about his Father (and ours) more perfectly, and that knowledge and love for Him will guide us into all heartfelt righteousness.
During the past four years I, along with many others, have prayed for the people and leaders of this nation to find repentance so we could begin the rise out of the cesspool of our recent past…out of the blatant injustice, inequality, and conspiracies to commit heinous acts against humanity. I believe God answered that prayer. Now let’s ALL pray for our leaders, (including the 30% who are constantly berating them). God forbid that we should let America the Great become Babylon the Great. We stand at the moment in humble optimism and joy for our nation.
Note: The ultimate “antichrist” comes out of the Middle East, not the West and certainly not out of Babylon the Great (the harlot) which is clearly revealed as being separate from the former (Rev. 17:11-18; Rev. 18:8-10). In 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul characterizes the “man of lawlessness” as one who works within the power of Satan and is destroyed by the returning Christ. In doing so Paul uses wording directly from Isaiah 11:1-4 in describing this lawless one as “the Assyrian” in Isaiah 10:24. This is a reference to the Middle East geographically. And it matches other Old Testament references as well…let the reader understand. This end time dictator is also referred to as the Beast power (Rev. 13) who hates the whore (Babylon the Great), and, along with 10 kings, will destroy her. So before hurling around drama inducing accusations, some increasingly vocal “prophets” at least need to first untangle their knotted understanding of prophetic identities.
